In addition to volunteers, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine needs critical funding in order to keep its programs strong and effective for the children of our community. For example, it is only through the generosity of people like you that we are able to staff two area offices; one in Cumberland County and one in York County.
While there is a lot happening behind the scenes to ensure our Big/Little matches are successful, there are a number of ways that you can get involved and make a difference:
Individual Gifts
You can make an individual gift today by writing a check payable to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine. Or call us and we can take credit card payment over the phone (Visa and MasterCard only). You can also safely and securely donate online by clicking one of the logos below.
Stock Gifts
With a gift of stock or appreciated securities, you can support BBBS while avoiding capital gains yet still receiving a tax deduction at fair market value at the time of your transfer. Your financial planner can help you make an electronic transfer.
IRA Contributions
The Pension Protection Act of 2006 makes it possible for you to make a tax-free charitable rollover contribution from your IRA. The law enables those aged 70 ½ and older to make gifts to their chosen charities of up to $100,000 from their IRA, with no tax due on the withdrawal and no charitable deduction. This opportunity is effective until December 31, 2007.
Employee Matching Gifts
Employers will often match the charitable contributions of employees—ask at your office!
Memorial/Tribute Gifts
Monetary gifts given mainly by individuals to commemorate or celebrate friends and loved ones or a special occasion.
